The advanced navigation gives you a quick way to find the file you are looking for in a long list by entering the 1st character of the filename. The current selection is changed to the next item that starts with the character you have entered, If the search reaches the bottom of the list, it will continue the search from the top of the list until a match is found or the search hits the current selection.
